I purchased this book from Amazon.com as a present for a friend. She had lost her “best friend,” a 30 year old quarter horse, two years ago. She wasn’t sure if she could learn to love another horse but she was proven wrong when she met a horse named “Stormy.” She kept making excuses as to why it wouldn’t work out but she finally gave in and now “Stormy” has a new home. The first few days were a little rough with both of them getting used to one another. I was checking out equine books to purchase as a gift when I saw the Chicken Soup books for horse lovers. I am so glad I purchased the books I and II as my friend loves them. I highly recommend the Chicken Soup books as a gift, there is one for everybody on your list.

Just like its predecessor, this book is full of touching stories that will warm the heart of any horse lover. For those of you who decide to buy this book, you will not be disappointed.

Almost any horse book with entertaining stories is worth reading for the true horse lover, but this one stretched my patience. The quality of the stories does not remotely compare to the first book, and many are very trite and frankly uninteresting. I do not recommend this book. It’s one that I purchased for a friend, and got one for myself. I’m sorry on both counts….
