We have 8 cats in our household and front line works great for keeping the fleas away.

Frontline does not work for fleas around here at all. I tried it for two months and the fleas continued to have a party on my indoor-only cats. I switched to Promeris and all the fleas dropped dead within 24 hours.
Maybe Frontline works in some parts of the country, but where I live (north Florida) they seem to have become totally resistant.
