My unique situation was that my roommate (who lives on the floor below me) had a dog with a flea problem and had no desire to do anything about it. Apparently he couldn’t feel the fleas but I could (and so could the dog as I saw him scratching all the time). This was frustrating to no end because I was unable to eradicate the problem at the source and was left trying to figure out a way to keep the bugs from getting upstairs. It didn’t help that the dog was all over me when I walked in the door. I had no doubt that I carried them upstairs. He also had a favorite spot at the base of the stairs. The fleas probably just hopped right on up the stairs as the upstairs are carpeted and the downstairs has a stone floor. I tried many things and found my favorite product. As of today my flea issues are gone, and so is the problem for the dog downstairs.

The amazing product which eventually helped me with this issue is fleago. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!!!!!! I tried all the other products and practically killed myself with the toxicity from it all. I felt as sick as the fleas probably did, not to mention it causing serious strain between myself and my roommate.

My co-worker told me about this stuff. It took a few weeks for it to work for her, but it made an amazing difference, so I tried it myself. Apparently this is just boric acid, which dries the fleas out and the eggs as well. They can’t build up a resistance to it. You lightly sprinkle this on your carpets and then brush it in to the fibers with a broom. Then you wait at least 5 days before vacuuming it up. I waited longer because I wanted it to work for as long as possible. This can’t be used on hard floors as it makes the floors slippery. But it can be used under the cushions of upholstered furniture. Once the flea touches it, it begins to dry out and die.

It took about 4 days before I noticed a serious change in my flea level. The nice thing was it was totally non-toxic. I began to see loads of dead fleas on my bathroom floor (where the carpet meets the linoleum) and realized they had jumped from the carpet to the bathroom to escape and died there. Now, not only is my flea problem completely eradicated, but the problem downstairs for the dog is gone too, and I never applied this stuff downstairs!!!

I’ve got a bottle of this stuff handy in case I see any fleas again. I’ll be ready then.

I purchased my fleago at a local garden/kitchen supply store. It looks a little different in packaging and color of the crystals (mine are pure white while this product looks yellowish – could just be the photo is a weird color?), but since it has the same name, I am assuming this is the same product. The ingredients list on the side of my package says boric acid – 99%, Inert ingredients 1%. It’s also manufactured by Evergreen Pet Supply, if you want to do a comparison between what you receive and what I am reviewing.

Per the side of my package, it says that the 2 lb package of fleago should be able to cover 1000 sq feet. You are only required to LIGHTLY sprinkle this on your floor. You’ll likely never get that kind of coverage with a heavier sprinkle. Since I was determined to get rid of my flea issue fast, I bought two containers for my entire upstairs and did a heavier dusting.

I really can’t recommend this stuff enough. It brought my sanity back to me, and did it in a non-toxic way. It only takes a few weeks of patience for it to work. If I could give this 10 stars I would.

we had foster kittens. They brought in fleas even though supposedly the high-kill shelter they came from had treated them for fleas.

Our house had an outbreak. Not too severe like they were jumping out of everything. Wouldn’t use the word “infestation” by any means. But I got a bite or two. They mainly stuck to the animals, especially our long haired, elderly, mellow cat because his temperament and fur make him a buffet.

We used this with frontline or some similar topical product on all the creatures and boom! No fleas.

Not the most fun day I ever had, nearly emptying my apartment and pouring white stuff all over everything and vacuuming it up…but it got the job done (we don’t have carpets, so that helps).

This is the second time we’ve used this (we have a revolving door of rescue fosters) and both times it did the trick.

I had an infestation with my cat inside the house, don’t know how they got fleas to begin with as they’re inside only.. I used this on the floors, used advantage 2 flea control on them, and the fleas are gone.
